What is LinkDrop?
LinkDrop is a free app that sends files directly between two devices on the same Wi-Fi or local network, or over a hotspot. It works on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and Linux, with no account and no cloud.
Do my files go through the internet or a server?
No. Files travel directly between the two devices over your local network, encrypted end to end. LinkDrop has no servers.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Install the app on both devices and pair them.
Can I use LinkDrop without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Turn on the hotspot on one device and connect the other device to it through Wi-Fi. Your mobile operator may count hotspot data, depending on your plan.
Is LinkDrop secure?
Every transfer is encrypted end to end between the two devices. The first time you pair, both screens show the same 6-digit code to confirm, and you approve each incoming transfer.
Can I send between different platforms?
Yes. Any supported device can send to any other, for example Android to iPhone, Mac to Windows or Linux to Android.
